Today I visited a factory that produces nuts, bolts, and various other building implements. It is owned by my Maushi and Kaka. The workers that work at the factory are mostly illiterate, but if they choose to pursue education it will be paid for by the company. The workers also are given ample time to celebrate festivals, attend to family issues, etc. Such things are not typical of many Indian businesses, so Maushi and Kaka are quite forward thinking.
A great portion of all that is produced here is either exported or goes into further production elsewhere and is exported later. Most of the work is done with the assistance of machinery, with more being added all the time. Tasks that used to have to be done by hand and were quite arduous (like the bending in the picture) are now done with machinery.
So far I’ve seen some rather exciting animals. The elephants are always fun, and today I actually saw some monkeys attempting to scavenge food from the restaurant I ate lunch at. They were promptly chased back to the forest.
India, nature or industry?
